Meet Baby.

Baby is a three legged Poodle who spent nine years in a breeders cage, had her vocal cords cut to prevent her from barking and is now a national icon.

Dr. Jana Kohl is a psychologist and the daughter of the founder of Kohl's department store (one of my fav's). She is also an author and advocate against puppy mills.

Dr, Kohl has authored a book featuring the soon to be President, as well as many celebs, with Kohl's rescue dog 'Baby.'

It was after meeting Baby and hearing the truth about puppy mills that Obama agreed to join Kohl's efforts. As you know, Obama and family are set to adopt a dog, a "mutt" as he put it. 

Americans spend $2 billion a year to round up, shelter and euthanize 4-5 million homeless pets.

"Animal exploitation comes in many ugly forms but puppy mills are recognized as one of the worst," says Bob Barker, animal welfare advocate.

Jana Kohl, Psy.D. is a writer, artist, clinical psychologist and animal welfare advocate, and has recently completed her nation-wide tour in support of her book, A Rare Breed of Love: The true story of Baby .
